The Supreme Chamber of Control has looked into the basic problems of the renewable energy market in Poland. It is hard not to agree with the diagnosis.

Among the most important problems of the renewable energy market, the report identifies limitations in the ability of entrepreneurs to finance investments, ADMINISTRATIVE TRIALS AND WITH FUNCTIONING OF TRANSMISSION NETWORKS, as well as insufficient support for investments in green energy.

The audit covered the period from 2017 to 2020, indicating that during this period the sources of RES market problems were not analysed to an appropriate extent, which in turn translated into difficulties in their mitigation.

The Chamber appreciated the changes in the auction system, noting at the same time that its major shortcoming is the LACK OF INFORMATION TO INTERESTED ENTITIES ABOUT NOTIFIED AUCTIONS WITH A REASONABLE AHEAD.

The auditors raised the insufficient pace of development of new investments in hydropower plants and biogas plants.

In any case, it is clear that DYNAMIC DEVELOPMENT OF PHOTOVOLTAICS IS WAY TOO LOW TO ACHIEVE THE ENERGY TRANSFORMATION GOALS.
