Trains powered by green energy are certainly a very future-oriented direction. The Łódź Agglomeration Railway is leading the way in this area.

Łódź Agglomeration Railway is the FIRST POLISH TRANSPORTATION TO ENTERTAIN A CONTRACT WITH PKP ENERGETYKA FOR THE DELIVERY OF A CERTAIN VOLUME OF ENERGY PRODUCED FROM RENEWABLE ENERGY SOURCES.

The contract assumes that the ŁKA trains will use 30% green energy this year, and as early as in 2025 – 50%. The agreement provides that in subsequent years this volume will increase by 10%, so that in 2028 the trains will be powered entirely with energy from renewable sources.

Other rail operators are also thinking about such solutions.

This is all the more important considering that rail is becoming an increasingly popular means of transport – especially between cities. And the implementation of renewable energy power supply on the railroad market seems – in comparison to other means of transport – relatively simple.

By the same token, THE RAILWAY has a chance to become a kind of PRECURSOR OF GREEN COMMUNICATIONS based on environmentally friendly solutions.
